Preparing for

Parenthood Series

You’ve prepared your house, bought the clothes and gear, but have you prepared yourself?

Get the tools and support that will make your transition into parenthood seamless. This 5-session series is built to usher expecting parents into the world of becoming a parent. For five weeks, we will focus on the many challenges parenthood presents and how you can address them.

Whether you choose to prepare on your own or with your partner is up to you.  Regardless, we will cover not only what is happening in your body both during pregnancy and postpartum, but also what changes you can expect emotionally, in your relationships, and in your day-to-day lives.  We will wrap up by developing an individualized postpartum plan that fits your specific needs and the needs of you family.

Should you choose to continue with the program after birth, there are options for individual postpartum assessment immediately following birth with an 8-week follow up so assess for any significant symptoms that may require specialized intervention.  The program also includes individual counseling in the initial postpartum weeks and/or support groups to meet your individualized needs.

One-on-One Counseling

Individualized support sessions that work for your life, your schedule, and your family.

Whether you are looking for a safe environment to explore your new identity as a parent, trying to understand your feelings of shame, guilt, and inadequacy, or experiencing more significant postpartum adjustment symptoms, individual therapy can be a very powerful healing tool.  I will use an integrative and client-centered approach when working with you.  What this means is that I rely on you to be the expert of your life while I provide non-judgmental support and insights to help guide you in the direction you want to move.  I pull from different methodologies and techniques to tailor your therapy to meet your specific goals.

As a mother myself, I know how difficult it is to try and plan around feeding schedules, naps, and your own self-care; especially in those first months while you are still in a haze of sleepless nights, shower-less days, and emotional ups and downs.  I want to meet you where you need to be met.  If coming into the office just isn’t in the cards for you, we can explore other options such as virtual counseling sessions or in-home visits.

Group Support

Connect with other parents, exchange insights, and leave with the village it will take to raise your child.

We’ve all heard the saying, “It take s a village to raise a child.”  Truer words have never been spoken, yet we live in a society that says we should be able to do it all and do it all on our own.  New mom support groups offer a community for new moms and serve as an invaluable source of support, reminding each new mom that she is not alone during this time that can feel so isolating.  Interested in finding your community?  Contact me to find the group that works for you.

New moms aren’t the only ones that need support.  If you are the partner of a new mom seeking support and guidance, let me help you find your community as well.  We all need it.
